The Chemistry Computing Services Group maintains the departmental website and all administrative computer systems and software. We work in conjunction with the University's Office of InformationTechnology (OIT) to provide faculty, staff, and students with optimal operating systems and network connectivity. We provide assistance with TSM backup service, software configuration, data port activations, and various account requests for all departmental personnel.
O.W.L Computer Lab (located in CHM 3222)
- Equipped with 18 Intel iMacs, 2 Dell Pentiums (all with CD-ROMs), 1 HP 4050N printer, Microtek Scanmaker scanner, External Zip Drive and External Floppy Drive.
- Access to Internet and to pay-for-print laser printer
- Chemistry Software is available

Print Accounts
- All students must have a print account to print in any of the computer labs on campus. Students must first have a Terrapin Express account. To set up an account, go to http://www.helpdesk.umd.edu/systems/lpcr/.
Audio/Visual Equipment

All seminar rooms and classrooms are equipped with overhead projectors. These rooms may be reserved in 0107 or by email to dcanter@umd.edu. The Marker seminar room 0112 and the Lecture halls (1402 and 1407) are equipped with LCD projectors. Seminar room 3219 is equipped with a technology cart that contains an LCD projector, windows computer, DVD, VCR, speakers, document camera and internet access. To reserve a laptop computer and/or an LCD projector for a classroom or seminar presentation please email chem-it@umd.edu. Reservations must be submitted at least 24 hours in advance. A portable media cart is available for use in non equipped classrooms or available for event check out

Available Software
- As of April 1, 2006 CAS Chemical Abstract Services will only be supporting the latest version of Scfinder Scholar namely "Scifinder Scholar2006".
For windows users your existing license file (site.prf) will still work. Be sure it is placed in the default installation folder usually c:\sfschlr.
Mac OS X users need a new license file (siteox.prf). Be sure to rename it and place it in the folder "Username\Library\application support\scifinder scholar"
Please placethe windows site license file (site.prf) in the c:\sfschlr folder. Alternatively on Mac OSX the license can be added to the Scifinder Scholar package by following these instructions from CAS
