Thermo 2005, College Park, MD, April 29-30, 2005.
The Mid-Atlantic Meeting on Thermodynamics -"Thermo-2005"- will be held in April 2005 in College Park, Maryland. "Thermo-2005" will be arranged in honor of the 60th birthday of Sandra C. Greer, Professor of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at the University of Maryland. We will have invited talks (from the nationwide and international scientific community) and contributed posters (students are especially welcome). There is no registration fee for the participants.

Dr. Sandra C. Greer Awarded the Francis P. Garvan-John M. Olin Medal for
2004
Dr. Sandra C. Greer was chosen by the American Chemical Society to receive the Francis P. Garvan-John M. Olin Medal for 2004.The award, established in 1936 to honor distinguished service to chemistry by U. S. women chemists, was established by funds from Francis P. Garvan and is now sponsored by the Olin Corporation. The award recognizes Dr. Greer's research on the experimental thermodynamics and statistical mechanics of fluids and fluid mixtures, living polymers, biopolymers, and polymer solutions. She is also commended for her efforts on behalf of women in science and engineering, as well as for her work on issues of ethics in science and engineering. The award was presented to Dr. Greer at a formal ceremony and dinner at the American Chemical Society meeting on March 30, 2004 in Anaheim, CA.
