Application Procedure

Please submit your application online before February 1st, preferably earlier.  The application can be submitted at:  http://www.gradschool.umd.edu/gss/admission.html

    • In the Application Supplemental Form (ASF), please provide the e-mail addresses of three people who will be writing recommendation letters.  At least one of those three individuals must be from an academic institution, preferably a professor from your most recent undergraduate or graduate institution.  They will receive instructions telling them how to submit their letters electronically.   
    • While completing the application online, you will be asked to upload two documents entitled "Statement of Goals & Research Interests" and "Statement of Experiences".  These can be submitted separately or as a single document.  In the Application Supplemental Form (ASF), you will have the opportunity to expand upon these statements.

 

The remaining application materials (transcripts, GRE and TOEFL scores, etc.) must be submitted by February 1st (again, preferably earlier, as we only review complete applications).

    • Please arrange for original transcripts to be mailed directly from the institution(s) where you earned credits towards your degree(s) to:

    • GRE and TOEFL scores must be sent from the testing company to the Graduate School.  The University of Maryland’s institutional code is 5814.

 

    • The Graduate School will also request that you pay a non refundable $60 application processing fee.
