Introductory Courses

Introductory courses are defined as the courses taken during the first four terms of study by a student who begins their study of chemistry at the level of the first course taught by the Department.

Students with Advanced Placement credit or transfer credit may receive credit for one or more of the introductory courses. For AP credit information, go here. For information about transfer credit, go here.

Introductory courses are taken by students in many majors other that chemistry or biochemistry. You should consult with an advisor from your major department or program to ensure that you are taking the correct courses.

Starting in the Fall 2005 term, the changeover to a new introductory (the first four semesters) chemistry and biochemistry curriculum will begin. The new curriculum will be phased in over four semesters with complete implimentation in the Spring 2007 term.
