Declaring a Major in Chemistry or Biochemistry


The process of declaring a major is different depending on your current situation.

If you are currently declared as a major within the College of Chemical and Life Sciences:

  1. Make an appointment to see Dr. Montague-Smith for advising (301-405-1791).
  2. Following your advising meeting, stop by the College of Chemical and Life Sciences Office of Undergraduate Affairs (1300 Symons Hall) to complete the paperwork.

If you are currently undeclared or have declared a major outside of the College of Chemical and Life Sciences:

  1. Make an appointment to see Dr. Montague-Smith for advising (301-405-1791).
  2. Following your advising meeting, contact the College of Chemical and Life Sciences Office of Undergraduate Affairs (301-405-2080) to schedule a training session for majors.
  3. Complete the majors training session, and complete the paperwork.
