Faculty Searches

Applicants from all areas of chemistry and biochemistry are invited for one or more open-rank tenure-line faculty position, starting August, 2017. Bioanalytical, biophysical and environmental chemistry candidates, and others developing innovative measurements and methods for frontier research in the chemical sciences, broadly defined, are particularly encouraged to apply. The criteria for selection will be proven excellence and/or potential for impact through original research, scholarship and teaching. Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or closely related discipline, demonstrated research accomplishments, and experience in teaching/mentoring in the chemical sciences, broadly defined.

Lecturer Position: We anticipate a search for a Lecturer to join the faculty in August, 2017. Application details are forthcoming.

Other Teaching Opportunities

The department has occasional need to employ qualified individuals to teach specific chemistry or biochemistry courses for a single semester. . Qualifications include a PhD in Chemistry or Biochemistry and relevant teaching experience. Teaching Assistants

The Department employees qualified undergraduate and graduate students as Teaching Assistants in its undergraduate chemistry lecture and laboratory courses. To be eligible for a Teaching Assistantship, you must be a student in good academic standing at UMCP and have completed the 100- and 200- level chemistry course sequences at UMCP (or their equivalent).
