Theoretical and Computational Chemistry

As part of a major University strategic growth initiative, the Department ofChemistry and Biochemistry seeks to appoint a theoretical/computational chemistto a tenured or tenure-track position. All levels will be considered.  We seek outstanding scientists whose research interests complement existing strengths in theoretical chemistry and who are committed to developing outstanding programs in research and teaching,consistent with the Department's strategic plan for growth and development.  The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is one of four departments within the College of Chemical and Life Sciences.  Faculty participate in university centers and research initiatives that include the Institute for Physical Science and Technology, the Center for Scientific Computation and Applied Mathematics, a Materials Research Scienceand Engineering Center, and the Center for Bioinformatics and Computational Biology. The successful candidate will share in a large, recently funded high-performance computer cluster for theoretical chemistry. The University of Maryland, College Park is the flagship campus of the University of Maryland System and is ideally situated in the Washington-Baltimore area with a large concentration of outstanding academic and government research centers. Candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. degree, demonstratedaccomplishments in independent research, and promise as an effective educator.
