  • Designed and synthesised serine based receptors that bind biologically relevant anions such as chloride and bicarbonate
  • Evaluated anion binding by serine analogs. Receptors bind chloride using non-covalent interactions in a bidentate motif
  • Developed a strategy to modulate pKa of prodigiosenes as a function of vesicular pH, resulting in pH-tunable transmembrane anionophores
  • Co-authored two publications based on pH-tunable transmembrane anion transport studies
  • Established correlation between conformations of prodigiosenes and anion binding strength in solution
  • Published results demonstrating binding of natural product and anti-cancer agent prodigiosin with G-quadruplex DNA assembly
  • Gathered extensive experience with phospholipid assays, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR – 1D and 2D), mass spectrometry (MS), UV-Visible absorption spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy and dynamic light scaterring (DLS)
