Analytical NMR Service & Research Center

Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry University of Maryland

UM user Training Programs

Campus User Training:

The program and training classes are offered to users at UM College Park Campus, who will be using the facility frequently at least on a monthly basis.

For non-frequent campus users, please submit samples to staff, contact us for more details.

If you would like to have limited access to NMR labs (as an observer) with a authorized user. Please fill out a separate application form.

Procedure to enroll:

Operation Manual and Tutorials:

All spectrometers in the Center are equipped with the same software Bruker TOPSPIN for data acquisition and processing.

The Manuals listed below are for manipulation and data processing only. Instruction for Specific NMR applications are not in these manuals.

The application notes (step-by-step setups) are available on-line once you log on the spectrometer.

As your research progresses, additional training notes and manuals are available to operate the advanced spectrometers.

New to Bruker spectrometers:

Start here first!

Using the Fully automated Bruker Spectrometer-- chem400 in NMR Lab II.

Good for concentrated samples for product screening and fast analysis. Capabilities: H-1, C-13, P31 and F-19 and routine 2D NMR (COSY and HSQC). Operation Manual and policy for the automated NMR spectrometer

Using the advanced spectrometers in NMR Center Lab I (400MHz, 500MHz and 600MHz)

Off-line NMR data processing:

There are several options to process your NMR data once the data is transferred to your own PC or the Workstations in UMCP NMR Center.
