The Technical Services Shop in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is the department's own facilities management operation, but on a much smaller scale than the campus FM group.

Technical Services' responsibilities are as broad and varied as your needs. For starters, we install, maintain and service window air-conditioners; maintain and oversee service for the distilled water system in our Biochemistry Wing; manage the department's small inventory of folding tables and chairs and provide support for special events and office moves; assemble furniture; and more. Angel Grant, Chemistry's technician in the shop, is an HVAC mechanic with CFC certification. Angel works on small pumps and other refrigeration units. He is an expert in refrigerant reclamation and recycling. The Technical Service Shop has a table saw, a drill press, sanders and many small tools that can be borrowed by members of the department for use on your own projects. Technicians for area maintenance and heating & air-conditioning, assigned to Chemistry from the campus facilities management group, can be contacted through Technical Services (x51827) as well as through Work Control (x52222).
