Jie Li (advisor Dr. Peter Nemes) is the recipient of an award from the 2019 Cosmos Club Foundation’s Cosmos Scholar Awards Program. Li’s successful proposal is entitled “Discovering the Mechanism of Action for Metabolite-Induced Cell Fate Changes”

The Cosmos Club Foundation was created to “advance science, literature, and the arts and humanities through awards and grants for charitable and educational purposes.” It does so primarily by awarding research grants to graduate students enrolled in universities in the Washington, DC area. The selection process is rigorous and only about 10% of the proposals are funded, according to the foundation’s website.
